Food Security Bill cannot be sustainable as it will have adverse impact on fiscal deficit in coming years. The government of future will bear the brunt along with the tax payers. Hard times are ahead for all of us The programme aims at giving the nation's two-thirds population the right to highly subsidised rates of Rs 1-3 per kg. This would require 62 million tonnes of food grain for implemention costing the public exchequer Rs 1,25,000 crore annually.The programme cannot ensure nutrition and quality of food grains. Absence of adequate storage facilities in the country, will pose challenges to its successful implementation.
