It would be preposterous to re-name Lutyens Delhi’s Akbar Road as Maharana Pratap Road. MOS( MEA) Gen V K Singh’s suggestion in this regard, betrays lack of maturity. His proximity to RSS earned him ministerial berths for diverse portfolios. But, his performance has been uninspiring. 

Branding Akbar as non-secular, would be a travesty of history. Bypassing him as part of medieval history would not be in country’s interests.

There are several roads including the ones named after dynasties, crying to be re-christened. Sample these. Race course road, Moti Lal Nehru Marg ,Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Marg, Teen Murti Marg, Rajesh Pilot marg,PM Modi would be committing a political harakiri,if, he follows RSS’s  dictats of roads re-naming spree in the name of religions.

As a senior citizen,may I urge the Union Health Minister to constitute squads of Officers for conducting surprise checks at CGHS dispensaries and hospitals in Delhi and see how poor patients and senior citizens are maltreated. Some processes could be outsourced to avoid harassment. Doctors could be transferred from VIP dispensaries to outlying areas with larger concentration of retired CGHS beneficiaries.
